hats off!

Given an influx of cash I thought I’d take myself shopping! I’ve been hankering after a hat of this shape for some time and after asking a girl in the street where she bought hers I decided to take a trip to h&m. Not normally a place I venture out to as I admit I can at times be a bit of a second hand snob. However after a glimpse around urban outfitters springs bits (i always love urban outfitters!) and Primark's excellent range of printed leggings I may be wearing more high street this spring!

Keep an eye out for the hat induced outfits over coming weeks!

Spring has sprung!

Today before work i took myself for a walk in the sun for some extra exercise, and what a joy it was, it was warmer, the sun was shining and finally I thought that winter might finally coming to an end. Which means.......... S/S 2012! yay! go treat yourself to any fashion mag and get inspired by the new season trends. One of my favourite featured is the 'fondant' trend! All lovely icing themed colours as seen above. Also to be seen a continued trend with florals, but in bloom print, less chintzy than previous years. As well as scarf print, tribal and metallics to name a mere few! i better get sewing!

Happy Valentines day!

Well that day has come, everyone in a relationship smugly goes out for dinner and us mere singletons commiserate alone………… WRONG!

I decided to make yet more jewellery from bits I had left from my last attempt, as well as a newly acquired broken pocket watch face, some peacock feathers very kindly donated to me by a housemate, as well as some random charms. I am so pleased with the results, who says you need a boyfriend to have fun on valentines…… haha!

happiness is....... floral cushions!

Thanks to the joys of living in a mouldy room two of my cushion covers were ruined by a green speckle so I thought I’d craft myself some new covers! As floral is my thing I went for this lovely oriental style fabric and then this vintage 70’s off cut from a dress which I’d made.

Tea and cake anyone?

Tea and cake anyone?

Ok I know they are no good for you but in these dreary winter days everyone needs a treat! I followed the easiest recipe ever, call me tragic but it’s the most fun I’ve had in a while!

200g self-raising flour

200g butter

200g sugar

Tsp baking powder

3 eggs

Tbl cocoa powder

Then I made a simple butter cream icing which is just butter, icing sugar and cocoa, mixed to taste.

Edible glitter optional!

(I dont advice using a piping bag.... they just look like turds dont they?!)

Collars and ankles! an obsession!

It seems that ive found a new love just in time for valentines! I'm so into a good old collar, poking out from over a jumper, or just buttoned up and proud!
Also i cannot seem to get enough of a flash of ankle, although still far too cold for anty draft to be going up your jeans, hence the lovely socks pointing out the top of my boots! Who says ankles are not sexy?!

New jewellery

A recent jewellery making evening! I think out ethos is deffo born out of being rather skint most of the time. I’ve been longing for some new pieces for quite a while so I decided to get busy with the pliers and create some new pieces!

All the pieces above are really simply created by bits of old jewellery and odd bits I’s collected over time, all you need is some imagination and a pair of pliers! I’ve used some old coins with wire wrapped round to create a cage and loop, I’ve also used an old Perspex bird, some shell beads. All the links, chains and fastening were just taken from old jewellery! Easy peasy

Velvet Maxi dress with a short sleeved Cropped Jumper.
The granny knit Cardigan was from a Marie Curie in Eastbourne.
Basically "WARM WARM WARM!"

Another one of Chelsea's tops out of an old work shirt.
Cutting the collar and adding the fringe has made it very different
from the original polo, making it more Grunge.

We tried bleaching a few of the tops for ages, but they didn't really take.
This one took a few tries, but its come out a nice acid pink from the original Burgundy.

Chels cut the original collar and replaced it with this gorgeous psychedelic print,
she then placed a flower motif over the original print on the front.
Very Charming =)

Chelsea made this lovely Scallop Beaded Top out of an old work shirt.

My attempts to make anything remotely
lovely out of one of these shirts made my head hurt.
But, I did do one modification that
i may be doing to all of my shirts and polos.
