Change your look as often as your knickers.

Ok so I'm sitting in a dressing room at New Venture Theatre applying way to much make up, wearing a scimpy summer outfit. Nice. I would never ever, EVER show this much flesh in my real life, but a change is as good as a rest. That's the thing about style, it can change depending on boring stuff like the weather or a new piece. But everything in your entire life affects how you present yourself. Heartache and love, a new job, a new band a new discovery, whatever. The point is that that's great! Embrace it! Change your look as often as you change your knickers! Be affected. I realised that the last two weeks I have either dressed like a bloke kinda 30's does 80's or a bit of a 60's schoolgirl. My clothes are actually screaming I am so vulnerable and Girly. Or look how strong I am, go on I dare you, challenge me! And you know what? That's ok. It's gonna change again.

Comfort blanket.

WOW grumpy today, nerves always put me in a bad mood, some kind of coping strategy. Anyway at least I can waft around looking like an Edwardian ghost in her nightie who has travelled to Asia and now owns a kimono?! That's a look right?! There is always comfort in wallowing clothes that make you smile, giggle or remind you of happier times and that is another reason I adore them.

Bow wow wow!

This one of my latest designs, I mean who doesn't love an oversized bow? So many great style connotations too. Minnie Mouse, 80's pop stars, dolls, errrrrr that's all I can think of right now! But its an attractive shape and goes with so much, right now I'm rocking a relaxed 80's look.

You can see behind me my new range of hand customised sunglasses which I am launching outside Snoopers Paradise this coming Tuesday. So if you fancy coming along and joining in the fun, come hang out, stroke some pretty new stock, show me your latest craft projects or just wear a rocking outfit so I can street style snap it and blog all about you! Get Involved!

Yesterday was the lovely Alanna'a birthday, we had a surprise tea party, thought everyone needed to see a picture of all my yummy baking! I'm on the fruit today!

God Save the Queen.

I went for subtly 60's today, the cute green hat sends any look from plain into the more granny area instantly, better what I wore shots coming soon.........promise.

In the meantime I have discovered a new collecting obsession, Coronation crockery but only proper fifties or silver jubilee bits which happened in 77, the height of punk haha. I know its proper granny but I love the stuff, the style of the drawings, the colours both eras that its from. In no way am I a royalist which in a strange way makes it rather a punk statement! Hey we all like what we like so embrace it!

Afternoon tea?

Told you I have been wafting through life looking like a granny from an array of different ages, today I'm 1940's to the absolute max, complete with headscarf and comfortable shoes!

Todays accessories, I have never ever been a gold kind of girl but lately I'm really appreciating the tacky beauty of the stuff!

And since I'm dressed like a 40's granny I thought I would include this cute images of Tunnoks caramel biscuit things, a workmate brought them in for everyone. How bloody vintage in the packaging, the colours, the cute pic of the boys face, they are the most stylish biscuit. Afternoon tea anyone?

I fucking LOVE this picture, 1 the setting 2 the outfit and 3 it was taken at work by a workmate. This outfit was inspired by a girl I saw in the shop next door to my house late last night when I was buying milk. That's what I adore about street style, you can be inspired anytime, anywhere, it does not take money, talent or even any knowledge. See something, like it..... re do it your own way. This girl had on amazing stripy trousers and a very 90's grunge vibe. I went ten times more girlie and this in my own take on her vibe. Sometimes what the person is actually wearing is vile, but its about a feeling you get, maybe a specific item or just seeing something that you think is really fucking cool. Now get style spotting, style is whatever you want it to be.

You know when you get pissed off with an outfit because its not quite right? felt like that today, like a mega frumpy girl from the sixties haha, although my housemate just told me that this dress makes me look like a giant baby.............thanks.

The Tour

THE CHELSEA FLORAL SHOW is officially open!

CHELSEA FLORAL SHOW is the creation of our very own Chelsea Newton Mountney. Her collection is a gathering of bespoke 40s Pill Box Hats, reworked vintage cardigans, one off pieces and a whole selection of embellished sunglasses, coming in all different shapes and sizes. Anything you buy from this collection is unique. And that’s what we love here at Its Hideous!

You can find the little bundle of joy up in Snoopers Attic, Brighton. The attic its self is situated upstairs in Snoopers Paradise, home to antiques, furniture, vintage crockery, vintage clothes, hats, shoes, jewellery, retro guitars… you name it, they pretty much have it. It’s wonderful.

Along with THE CHELSEA FLORAL SHOW, is a wealth of beautiful collections by a range of very talented designers. So here is Chelsea with a little tour to tease you.

We also have a few photos of all the types of gorgeous finds up in the Attic.  So, Enjoy!
